Borrowly
Borrowly (“we”, “us”) helps you track items and money you lend. This policy explains what information the app uses and why.
Information you provide
- Loan details — item names, descriptions, notes, estimated values, borrower names and phone numbers, amounts, dates, and payment history.
- Photos — images you capture of items you lend.
- Settings — preferences such as reminder defaults, notification toggles, and AI recognition on/off.
Information from your device
- Camera — used only when you take a photo of an item.
- Contacts — used only when you choose a borrower from Contacts. We do not upload your full address book.
- Notifications — local reminders you enable in Settings.
How we use information
- To create and manage your loans inside the app
- To sync loan data with your configured cloud project (Supabase)
- To suggest item details via on-demand AI recognition when that feature is enabled
- To help you compose SMS messages on your device — messages are sent only when you tap Send in Apple Messages
SMS and messaging
Borrowly does not send SMS on your behalf in the background. Share and reminder flows open Apple Messages with a draft. You choose whether to send.
AI recognition
When AI recognition is enabled, a photo (or a compressed version) may be sent to our recognition service (hosted on Supabase Edge Functions) and processed by an AI vision provider (OpenAI) so we can suggest an item name and related details. Images are used to generate suggestions for that request and are not sold. You can turn AI recognition off in Settings. Do not photograph sensitive documents you do not want processed.
Data storage
Loan data and photos are stored on your device and in the cloud project configured for your Borrowly build. We do not sell personal data.
Third parties
Depending on your build configuration, services may include cloud database/storage (Supabase), an AI recognition provider (OpenAI via our backend), and Apple Messages for drafts you choose to send. Those providers process data only to deliver the features you use.
Children
Borrowly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices
- Edit or delete loans in the app
- Disable AI recognition and notifications in Settings
- Revoke Camera or Contacts access in iOS Settings

Changes
We may update this policy as Borrowly evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
